Music and misery on Main street - Nov 20 2009
What a lovely time it was at Music and misery on Main street, last night. Got there relatively early and took seat on the couch. On my way in, I passed a few faces I had not seen before. Most of them had an odd air about them, not bad or anything, just odd. I figured since Erin was the feature act for the night, a bunch of her friends had come out to show their support.
I haven't been performing at Music and Misery since it started up again in September. I just go every week to watch, but not last night. I took along my cue cards and performed the Brian Song. There's a new guy who has been showing up lately. He plays the Eulalie and sings really fun lyrics. He's kinda of short, he's got fuzzy blond hair and wear dark rectangles glasses. So it's not just old farts that come to music and misery, plenty of young farts come down to share in the misery, too.
Dan, the producer and writer of a local radio show on Co-op radio called Union Made News got up a did a new song called Cops and Guns. He got a round of hearty applause for it. It was a very catchy tune,.. about ..well cops and guns being our one and only answer to almost every problem we face as society.
Erin did a few original compositions. It was interested how she had to different songs, and yet, she used the same phrases in both songs. She spent quite a bit of time, tuning her guitar in between the songs, a three of them. All through out the show, she kept asking how much time she had left. I think, she was just a relieved as everyone else when Rick called out 'five minutes'.
